We all know that Disney has the tradition of turning their beloved animated tales into epic live-action films. Recently, they released the live-action remake of “The Little Mermaid.” Starring Halle Bailey in the titular role, the movie was a smash hit across the globe. Now, the studio has selected its next target which is “Snow White and the seven dwarfs”! This enchanting story dates all the way back to 1812. It was penned by none other than the famous duo “Brothers Grimm. It made its debut in their book “Grimms’ Fairy Tales” as a charming German folk tale. Fast forward to 1937, and Disney worked its magic to create the first-ever full-length animated film. In October 2016, the studio first announced this project. After over 200 years since its original creation, this classic tale is getting a fresh makeover for the big screen. To make it successful, they are bringing in some incredible talent from the industry. This timeless story is set to be reborn as a live-action musical number. It means, there will be some incredible songs to capture the magic of this famous story. However, before the start of the filming, there were controversies about this project. The first one was the casting of it and the 2nd one was the portrayal of dwarfs. A lot of people raised objections to the inclusion of dwarfs and their portrayal. Due to this backlash, Disney not only changed the title but also changed the storyline. Yes, that is right. This time the stereotypical depiction of dwarfs is not happening. Instead of that, a new character has been introduced in the story to replace the “Prince.” The original story is about a princess who is in trouble because her stepmother is jealous of her beauty. A magic mirror calls Snow White the “fairest of them all.” The Evil Queen wants to harm her and sends a huntsman to catch her. But the princess escapes and goes to live with seven dwarfs who dig for gems. The Evil Queen finds her and tricks her with a poisoned apple. Snow White falls asleep, but a true love’s kiss wakes her up. This story will mostly stay the same in the upcoming film, but there will be some changes. In the new movie, the princess won’t just wait to be saved by a prince. She’ll be strong and fight alongside a character named Jonathan, who she loves. Also, because some people didn’t like how dwarfs were shown in the past remakes, Disney has changed how the seven dwarfs are portrayed this time. As for the cast, Rachel Zegler has been cast in the titular role. For the character of The Evil Queen, Gal Gadot has been cast. Apart from them, Ansu Kabia, Martin Klebba, and Andrew Burnap are cast in the supporting roles. Marc Webb is helming this project as the director while Greta Gerwig has written its screenplay. The movie is scheduled to arrive in theaters on March 22, 2023. For more updates, keep watching the Cine Wizard.
