Jenna Ortega has been cast in a pivotal role, portraying Lydia Deetz’s daughter in the film. Michael Keaton is confirmed to be reprising his iconic role as Beetlejuice. Discussions about making a sequel to the very popular movie started immediately after it was released in 1988. However, for some unknown reason, the project never started. There was a possibility of resuming the effort for the second phase, which seemed to have commenced during the 2010s, but ultimately, it was set aside once more in 2019. Sometimes, the franchise has come back in different ways like theme park rides, an animated show, and a Tony Award-winning Broadway musical. But people have always wanted a proper sequel. Now, after 30 years Beetlejuice 2 is being worked on again.
From what reports say, Tim Burton will come back to make another movie in the spooky and strange world of his popular series. The original main actor, Michael Keaton, will also be in the movie, along with Jenna Ortega, . The recent pictures from the filming of the movie suggest that there might be a wedding scene in Beetlejuice 2, with Ortega’s character as the bride. In the first movie, Lydia was forced into marrying Beetlejuice. Now, history might be happening again and Beetlejuice might be trying to get Lydia’s daughter this time. However, the character Jenna Ortega in Beetlejuice might just be preparing for a regular, thought-out wedding ceremony, when suddenly Beetlejuice unexpectedly appears. Lydia looked scared, which may be the reason for her feared expression.
The Beetlejuice 2 cast already has Monica Belluci as Beetlejuice’s new wife. Regardless, the pictures taken on set provide a lot of information, and they show that the movie will focus on the themes of marriage from the previous movies. However, it is still unclear which characters are getting married. In a recent interview with Variety, Tim Burton said that Beetlejuice 2 was almost finished filming, with just a day and a half left of shooting. When the strikes are over, the sequel can continue filming.
As talking about the cast the new version of The Addams Family is not the only thing that Ortega is famous for. He was also involved in the recent comeback of the Scream movies. Ortega will act as the daughter of Lydia in upcoming sequel of Beetlejuice. Winona Ryder will play Lydia again in the movie, and Justin Theroux (from The Leftovers) will also be part of the cast in a secret role. Willem Dafoe has also been chosen to act in the movie, portraying a police officer from the afterlife. Monica Bellucci will also be in the sequel, acting as Beetlejuice’s spouse. Catherine O’Hara will be returning as Lydia’s mom, Delia Deetz.
Warner Bros has announced that Beetlejuice 2 will be released on September 6, 2024. Warner Brothers might release Beetlejuice 2 in the fall because the franchise is known for being creepy and spooky. Let’s hope this time it releases successfully, but due to writer’s strike, the date might get pushed forward.
