Wonka 2023 │ Everything We Know So Far │ News Update ( The Cine Wizard )

“Wonka” is coming this year and fans can’t get enough of it. After two previous adaptations, this famous story will be adapted for the 3rd time. With a new cast and new crew behind the camera, Warner Bros. Studio is determined to take us again to the chocolate factory. So, when can we expect this adventurous trip? And how it will be different this time? To know that, stay tuned till the end.
Roald Dahl’s famous story was first published in 1964. Its popularity among kids and adults became a reason for Hollywood to adapt it in a movie. As a result, first, we got Gene Wilder’s 1971 movie, then we got Johnny Depp’s 2005 movie. The latter proved to be a commercial as well as a critical success. However, after almost 18 years, Warner Bros. decided to bring this famous character and his charisma to big screens. With new technology and better VFX this time, the company is hopeful to build an entire media franchise around Willy Wonka. Still, the question remains how is the studio gonna pull it off? Well, to everyone’s surprise, this time we will only be watching Willy in his early days. It means there won’t be any chocolate factory this time and there won’t be Charlie along with his grandpa. In simple words, this film will serve as a prequel. Now, we may not have all the juicy plot details just yet, but we do have an official synopsis from the studio. According to the synopsis, it reads, “An origin story that explores the vivid, mythical beginnings of the imaginative young inventor before he becomes the renowned delectable Mozart of chocolate.” The titular character will be portrayed by Oscar-nominee Timothée Chalamet. This young but talented actor has been cast as a younger version of Willy. He’s not only going to act but also showcases his singing and dancing skills with some spectacular musical numbers. Yes, you heard that right. This prequel will have some amazing musical numbers along the way. As for the supporting cast, the film also boasts some incredible names from the industry. Rowan Atkinson will be playing the role of a priest while Hugh Grant is portraying Oompa Loompa this time. Other names attached to this project are, Sally Hawkins, Olivia Colman, Jim Carter, Keegan Michael Key, Matt Lucas, and Tom Davis. As for the creative team working behind the camera, we have Paul King who is sitting in the director’s chair. Alongside him, we have Simon Farnaby who penned the script for this movie. The film is being produced by Oscar-winning David Heyman who is famous for producing the Harry Potter film series. The film was originally scheduled to hit theaters in March 2023. Due to the pandemic, it was later moved to the end of the year. Now, Wonka is scheduled to hit theaters worldwide on December 15, 2023.
