Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness banned in Saudi Arabia │ New Updates ( The Cine Wizard )
Marvel’s much-awaited film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has been banned in Saudi Arabia. As per Hollywood Reporter, this upcoming superhero film will not be screened in Saudi Arabia due to the inclusion of homosexuality in the film. Since homosexuality is banned in most Middle East countries, that’s why, apart from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain have also banned this movie. Being a follow-up to the 2016 Doctor Strange, the film follows the titular character in action after the events of Spiderman: no way home. It features Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, and Benedict Wong in the lead cast. Xochitl Gomez is also cast as America Chavez whose depiction is of a lesbian in comics as well as in this movie. So, it didn’t fit well with the censor boards of Saudi Arabia and UAE where it has been banned. Helmed by Sam Raimi, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 6, 2022.
