Dune Won 6 Oscars │ News Update ( The Cine Wizard )
Dune shines with 6 Oscars at the 94th Oscar awards ceremony on March 27, 2022. Directed by Dennis Villeneuve, this epic science fiction film was one of the best films of 2021. Based on Frank Herbert’s Dune saga, the film follows the protagonist Paul Atreides, whose family is thrust into a war for taking control of the desert planet, Arrakis. It was well-received by critics who praised Villeneuve’s direction, cinematography, and almost every aspect of its making. It received 10 nominations at 94th Academy Awards and was only behind Jane Champion’s film, The Power of the Dog which took the lead with 12 nominations. Nevertheless, it takes the number one spot with 6 wins out of 10 nominations. Hans Zimmer won another Oscar for the best original score while Mac Ruth won the Oscar for the best sound. Other Oscars won by this film are Best Visual Effects, Best Production Design, and Best Cinematography for Greig Frazer. It also won an Oscar for Best Film Editing of the year. It was also competing for the Best Movies of the Year but lost it to CODA by Sian Heder. Thus, it took the lead with most Oscar awards at the show.
